In its continued support of emerging “grass roots” talent, Doodson Entertainment is partnering a comedy film festival to be held at Deansgate Locks, Manchester. The COFILMIC comedy film festival will be held at The Comedy Store on 31 October, and has been created to bring together budding film and TV hopefuls to showcase their work to some of the biggest names in the industry.
The two-day COFILMIC event is brand new for 2011 and aims to provide promising actors, writers, comedians, producers and directors with the chance to submit a short film to a selection of judges. Structured panellist sessions will feature industry experts such as BAFTA and Golden Globe winning producer Charlie Hanson (Ricky Gervais’ Extras, Life’s Too Short, Cemetery Junction) and DAVE commissioning editor Steve North, who will offer practical advice to the aspiring stars.
Mark Foley, Director at Doodson commented: “We are delighted to offer our support to the first COFILMIC event and are as ever, fully committed to helping to develop emerging talent on every entertainment platform. The COFILMIC comedy film festival will be a great way to open doors for emerging talent and give them the opportunity to network with, and be seen by, the industry’s finest.”
